The Only ‘Safe Sex’ is No Sex

It’s not just a morality issue

So much information comes my way about the devasting effects of  sexual activity among teens (and young adults) that I thought– instead of just writing one big, fat, gorging article about it, that I would instead break it down in smaller, more  digestible pieces. Smaller pieces that can be absorbed better and delivered on a more frequent basis. Therefore keeping the topic from being relegated to ‘the back, in the corner, in the dark.’ (yep, stole that from the old Flip Wilson show I watched as a kid).

So what has been created is this  new category called the NO-SEX ZONE. What I will be posting here are current statistics on the current epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases, sexually activity rates according to age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, stats on media influence,  and other topics as I come across them, that fit into this category.  All to make the point that somehow, we need to make sure our girls know that it is best not to engage in sexual activity until they are mature and in a committed (preferably marital)  relationship.  And–as even public health departments are now stating–the only ’safe-sex’ is no sex.
