Nurturing Citizenship
Since it’s Election Day, this is a good time to talk about nurturing citizenship and a sense of civic duty.
I’m including some resources that you may find helpful in discussing with your daughter, elections and why voting is important.
This article from GoodHousekeeping Magazine gives tips on how to involve your future voters, as well as first-time voters.
PBS Kids has The Democracy Project, where children can learn about the history of voting, how government affects them, and why voting is important.
Especially targeting female voters is a program called Vote, Run, Lead, which is a project of a non -partisan organization called The White House Project. One of their slogans is “Add Women, Change Politics. I’m sure many of us can agree with that slogan.
